Our lawyers have tried numerous patent infringement cases to jury verdict, for plaintiffs and defendants, in many of these areas.
In addition to litigating and trying patent cases, we have successfully negotiated hundreds of license agreements on behalf of our clients, including complex portfolio licenses with leading technology companies.
Inter Partes Review and Covered Business Method Review
Our team provides representation in patent review proceedings before the Patent and Trademark Office, including inter partes reviews (IPR) and covered business method (CBM) reviews. We leverage deep technical knowledge and litigation experience to advocate for our clients when patent validity is on the line. Our attorneys have experience in dozens of IPR and CBM cases before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and we have helped patent owners successfully navigate each type of proceeding.
Intellectual Property Development and Strategy
We build and execute strategic intellectual property initiatives, and we help our clients identify, develop, and protect their intellectual property. Our attorneys are experienced in prosecuting patents and trademarks for individuals and corporations. And when it comes to protecting inventions, our team draws on its technical knowledge and experience “stress testing” patents in litigation to provide a unique perspective on patent prosecution strategy and portfolio development.
Complex Commercial Litigation
Our team thrives on high-stakes commercial litigation and arbitration, including breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, oil & gas, and bad faith insurance cases.
Employment Litigation
We represent employees and employers in a wide-array of employment litigation in state and federal court, as well as the EEOC and the State Commission on Human Rights. Engagements include race and gender discrimination, sexual harassment, age/disability discrimination, and whistle-blowers. We have tried multiple cases in this area to jury verdict in federal courts. Our work in this area sets us apart from many firms, and our breadth of experience greatly benefits our clients.
Appeals
Members of the firm are skilled in handling civil and criminal appeals, including appeals and argument before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Fifth and Federal Circuits, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and many Texas Courts of Appeal. We have lawyers who clerked at the U.S. Court of Appeals for Fifth Circuit, the Texas Supreme Court, and the Tyler Court of Appeals.
